THIS BLOG HAS MOVED!
I decided to write this blog after having a crappy experience joining SAG and AFTRA. I was completely alone in the process and unfortunately I was unable to get the relevant information I needed from the industry professionals I was working with. I desperately researched my situation by calling the unions, bugging other industry professionals and by scouring the internet for any scrap of advice. But I found nothing. When the whole disaster was over I realized that I had some very helpful and insightful information to share with my fellow performers and saw an opportunity to fill a void in the market. The NYC Actor was born.
My goal here is to simply share my experiences as they happen and hopefully to be a voice of reason and support in a very complicated and closed-minded industry.
If what I share here offers any kind of help at all to actors in New York then I will be ecstatic. My dream is that we can make The NYC Actor a forum in which we can discuss and/or comment on our experiences - good AND bad - and help each other become successful, self-reliant and self-sustaining professional actors.
